Hiromu lost the title to Taiji Ishimori in Jingu on August 29 2020, but he won the Best of the Super Jr.27, taking a huge step back to the top of his division.
On January 4 2021, Hiromu beat El Phantasmo for the right to challenge for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship, and won the title from Ishimori on the following day.
