At over 2 meters tall, "The Murder-hawk Monster" Lance Archer can prove to be an unsettling and brutal opponent in the ring. Debuting in July 2000, Archer has competed all over the world, including TNA and the WWE. In June of 2011, though, he joined Suzuki-Gun and formed the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team title winning K.E.S. ("Killer Elite Squad") with Davey Boy Smith Jr. With big wins over Satoshi Kojima and Hiroyoshi Tenzan, KES won IWGP Tag Team Championship gold on a pair of occasions over 2012 and 2013, and when Suzuki-gun headed to Pro Wrestling NOAH between 2015 and 2017, the team dominated, holding GHC Tag Team gold for the bulk of their exodus. At New Year Dash 2017, Suzuki Gun made a shocking return to New Japan Pro Wrestling, and KES made it clear that they were gunning for the IWGP Tag Team Championships once more. This campaign was a successful one, as Archer and Smith triumphed over tough competition in War Machine and the Guerillas of Destiny to once again hold the gold. That reign came to an end on Januray 4 2018 at Wrestle Kingdom 12, and despite a strong run in that year's World Tag League, KES would break up at the end of the 2019 New Japan Cup, whereupon Archer focused on his work as a singles wrestler, entering the G1 Climax for the first time in 5 years. Though results didn't always come, the performances did, and Archer pushed every single opponent to, or past, their limits. Opportunity would soon come knocking, and when Jon Moxley couldn't appear for a scheduled United States Championship defence in October, Archer filled in to compete for the now vacant title, which he won decisively by brutalizing Juice Robinson. The Murder-hawk Monster sought a long and dominant reign, but had to come face to face with Jon Moxley in a Texas deathmatch at Wrestle Kingdom to do so, ultimately losing.
