Teaming with partner SHO in Roppongi 3K, YOH has been a spectacular and popular member of the junior heavyweight division, as well as a master of tag team wrestling.
Returning to NJPW from excursion on October 9, 2017 under the tutelage of Rocky Romero, he formed Roppongi 3K. That same night, they defeated Ricochet and Ryusuke Taguchi to become the 54th IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. SHO and YOH would also win the annual junior heavyweight tag team tournament, in both elimination and league format, three years in a row, en route to four tag title reigns to date.
YOH had to relinquish the IWGP Jr. Tag Team Championships in 2020 after a knee injury forced him out of the New Japan Cup, and onto the injured list. It was at the finals of the 2021 cup however that YOH returned, and vowed to once again seize tag gold with SHO, taking Roppongi 3K to new heights in the process. This they did, RPG3K beginning their fifth tag reign at Sakura Genesis, while YOH also challenged El Desperado for singles junior gold at Wrestling Dontaku.
